Title: HR Officer (ER)

Minimum requirements:
• A minimum of a Grade 12
• Computer literacy
• English literacy
• Working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA, MHSA, COIDA
• A minimum of 5 years’ HR/ER experience within the mining industry as an AHRO
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse
community
• The ability to use independent judgement and to manage and impart confidential information
• Knowledge of human resource administration principles and practices
• The ability to analyse complex information, and to define and solve problems
• The ability to investigate and analyse claims and information and to draw conclusions, compile information and prepare reports
• A Medical Certificate of Fitness
• A driver’s licence and own transport
• Means of being contacted by the Mine after hours

Advantageous:
• A Certificate/National Diploma in HR Management or Labour Law

Operation: Phakisa Mine, Free State

Role and responsibilities:
• Maintain employment policies
• Manage employment tribunal cases
• Manage issues such as long-term absence
• Advise the HR team in dealing with employee relations issues and maintaining good relations
• Determine, gather and analyse evidentiary information necessary to evaluate compliance issues
• Provide guidance, expert interpretation of policy, compliance issues and complaints, and resolve disputes at the lowest 
administration level
• Under the direction of the Employee Relations Manager, evaluate and edit documentation associated with unionised employees,
including grievance responses and disciplinary actions
• Consult with trade unions
• Ensure compliance with defined HR policies, systems, practices, standards and procedures
• Provide valued ER guidance and or advice to line management and employees
• Mentor and coach subordinates
• Represent the employer at the CCMA in both conciliation and arbitration processes
• Be responsible for his/her own safety as well as for others, according to the Mine Health and Safety Act
