Cullinan Diamond Mine

Cullinan Diamond Mine is situated in the town of Cullinan 30km east from Pretoria.

Auto Electrician
The incumbent will be responsible for auto electrical maintenance and repairs on all Trackless Mobile Machines (TMM) and equipment.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Adhere to the breakdown call-out procedure • Conduct pre-use inspections on machinery and equipment • Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all equipment within area of responsibility • Ensure availability of machinery • Ensure safe storage and a safe environment for batteries • Follow instructions as per job card and report any defects • Monitor and identify spare requirements according to departmental procedure • Inspect and test machines, equipment and parts for legal compliance • Inspect front and rear lights to ensure compliance with standards and maintenance schedules • Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and electronic components in TMMs and equipment • Maintain and repair air-con units on TMMs • Carry out services and corrective maintenance as per weekly plan, breakdowns must be recorded on works orders to track failures • Perform risk assessments (activity based and mini) • Provide input in preparing maintenance and inspection schedules • Be responsible for battery maintenance, good housekeeping in working area, performing lock out when required, re-wiring of machinery, upgrading of systems according to standards and procedures • Strip and repair components and analyse and inspect failures to determine root cause and prevent recurrences • Identify and report faults when working with hydraulic valves (components) that are electronically operated • Be responsible for trade-related administration • Conduct on-the-job training for allocated apprentices • Work shifts, overtime and be able to do standby, callouts • Perform other duties that may reasonably be expected within the Company from time to time • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Mine Policies, Procedures and Codes of Practice.

Minimum requirements: • Grade 10 • N2 National Certificate • Auto Electrician Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and/or apprenticeship** • 3 years’ post-apprenticeship/qualification experience • Computer literate • Valid driver’s licence.
Advantageous (skills, competencies, experience and qualifications): Grade 12.
** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical training centre (eg Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Should these documents not be submitted the application will not be considered. Candidates holding S28 Trade Test Certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.
