Job Description

Finsch Diamond Mine is located in the town of Lime Acres which is situated 160km north west of Kimberley and 109km south of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

Engineering Foreman (Plant – Dense Medium Separation)
The incumbent will plan, execute, monitor and coordinate the maintenance activities to ensure effective equipment availability according to production requirements.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Allocate and organise the availability of resources (including consumables and raw materials) and regulate the utilisation of resources within designated area of responsibility to ensure achievement of equipment availability targets • Determine schedules, assign work and manage the performance of assigned personnel to ensure the achievement of equipment availability targets • Identify deviations or non-conformances, plan and implement corrective actions to ensure attainment of production plan • Implement the organisation’s risk management plan, schedule risk assessments and draw up action plans to minimise or eliminate operational risks • Interpret and implement immediate and short-term operational objectives and action plans to achieve the mining and business strategy • Liaise with stakeholders to identify project opportunities and be responsible for the implementation thereof in order to improve production • Oversee or facilitate the selection and utilisation of technical support services and logistics to optimise operational processes • Be responsible for overseeing the safe use of workshop equipment and facilities • Be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of machinery and related equipment • Analyse breakdowns continuously and implement action plans to prevent recurring failures • Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholder to minimise production delays and/or improve productivity • Coordinate and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production parameters • Be responsible for the evaluation of team effectiveness as well as the training and development of subordinates • Required to work overtime, be on standby and be available for call-outs • Ensure implementation of and adherence to the Mine’s Health Safety and Environmental COPs, policies, procedures and legal requirements within area of responsibility.

Minimum requirements: • Grade 12/N3 technical qualification or NQF Level 4 equivalent • Recognised Mechanical Engineering Trade Test Certificate at recognised/accredited institution ** • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience is essential • Generic Management Level 4: Supervisory Development Programme, Leadership Development Programme (LDP) or similar programme • Computer literacy – MS Office suite • Valid driver’s licence.

** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical training centre (eg Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Candidates holding S28 Trade Test Certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.

Advantageous (skills, competencies, experience): • Engineering Foreman experience (specify on your CV) • Proven track record to be provided.
