Title: Shift Boss
Minimum requirements:

• Grade 12
• Miner Advanced Certificate of Competency (Shift Boss Course)
• Blasting Certificate (National Rock Breaking)
• Strata Control Certificate
• Valid Certificate of Fitness or the ability to obtain one
• English proficiency
• Computer literacy
• Hazard identification and risk assessment
• 4 years’ gold mining development experience as a Shift Boss
• Knowledge of all departments on the mine
• First Aid Certificate
• Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency will be advantageous

Operation: Doornkop -
Gauteng
Roles and responsibilities:

• Achieve production targets safely and efficiently
• Comply with relevant legislation, mining management systems processes, policies, procedures and standards and meet the gold call for the operation
• Report to the Mine Overseer
• Fulfil the requirements of the legal appointment (2.15.1) of the MHSA in an underground development team
• Achieve development and safety targets
• Manage budgets stores and labour
• Create a safe environment in her/her working places through coaching and team work
• Maintain a healthy relationship with his/her stoping/development team
• Plan and achieve continuous improvement of key result areas
