Senior Power-Gen Panel Operator
The suitably qualified person must be a result-driven, self-motivated team player, who makes things happen through their strong interpersonal skills and extensive experience working in the Power Generation department.
Requirements: • Trained in Boiler Operations at a recognised facility such as the Training Centre • Senior Certificate with Maths and Science • Computer literate • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in boiler operations • Must understand engineering units such as mass, pressure, flow temperature and be able to calculate proportions and percentages • Ability to communicate well at all levels including reading and writing • Ability and willingness to grow within the power generation department • Safety-orientated.
Duties and responsibilities: • Maintain an adequate supply of quality steam to all end-users by ensuring good fuel, water and air supply to the boilers and ensure correct operation of all boiler and ancillary equipment • Liaise with users in order to ensure awareness of plant conditions and report all problems to the Shift Foreman • Maintain and monitor all pressures, drum levels, temperatures and flows in boilers • Maintain feed water qualities and smut water supply • Keep accurate record of all log books in the boiler house control room • Bring up, bank and shut down boilers according to procedure • Supervise labour on stop days and during off-crop, whilst performing specific tasks.
