Mine Overseer: Night Shift (D2)
The successful applicant will report to the Section Manager or nominee.
Minimum educational requirements: • Grade 12/Standard 10 Certificate • Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competence • Code 08 (EB) driver’s licence.
Experience (including but not limited to): • At least 2-3 years’ extensive practical experience in drilling and blasting operations • At least 2 years in a management role in drilling and blasting operations.
Duties (including but not limited to): • Plan, execute and manage the section in line with the department/functional requirements in order to meet production requirements • Implement and manage health, safety, environmental, risk and quality systems to ensure the mine section meet legal requirements and continuously strives to improve its inherent risk profile • Be responsible for production/technical/services goals derived from business plan • Be responsible for own functional portion of business scorecard • Manage, control and improve production and mining operations, including contractor performance against service level agreements in order to achieve production and targets • Assist management in setting achievable production targets, taking into account client demand and internal process capacity and constraints and manage the short-term production plan • Coordinate all mining logistics • Manage and delegate the bench preparation to relevant supervisors • Ensure correct drill rigs get to the block • Manage the correct drill parameters • Determine and enforce the drilling parameters • Contribute to annual departmental budget planning by compiling operational, capex and labour budgets for sub-function and submit to line management for approval • Effectively manage sub-function and its objectives in line with approved budgets (operational, capex and labour), report variances as required and recommend/implement remedial action within span of control • Review and authorise payments in line with approved budget and policy and submit for final processing • Identify operational, labour and capex requirements within sub-function for efficient delivery of production targets and submit recommendations to line manager.
