Job Description

Title: Shift Foreman: Milling Section
Minimum requirements:
• A Grade 12 or equivalent
• A completed Shift Foreman workbook
• A valid medical Certificate of Fitness
• Level 4 Mineral Processing qualification
• Computer literacy
• SEW (Supervisory Excellence Workshop)

Operation: Joel Plant, Free State
Roles and responsibilities:
• Carry out reasonable and non-routine tasks assigned by the Business Unit Leader and Plant Metallurgist
• Assume control from the outgoing Shift Foreman by discussing and evaluating process changes and process conditions
• Decide on priorities of breakdowns, liaise with the Engineering Department and programme repair work to ensure minimum production losses
• Authorise call-out after consulting with the Standby Official
• Take responsibility as Management’s representative on the plant after hours
• Make out production reports accurately, reporting all figures, conditions, problems and any other relevant information
• Ensure all regulations and instructions are obeyed and take corrective action in cases of deviation
• Hold regular meetings with subordinates to discuss production, safety, work to be done and other important work-related aspects
• Assist subordinates in problem areas
• Advise and instruct subordinates on appropriate action
