Cullinan Diamond Mine is situated in the town of Cullinan, 30km east of Pretoria. The Mine is using mechanised trackless block-cave mining.
The successful candidate will be required to maintain and improve Control and Instrumentation infrastructure within Cullinan Diamond Mine.
Tasks and responsibilities: • Carry out repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance work on all C&I equipment and related control systems to comply with product technical specifications • Attend to the relevant administrative functions, such as data pack (loop drawing) management • Continuously analyse equipment efficiencies to recommend or implement improvements and changes to maximise operations • Coordinate and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production parameters • Coordinate the monitoring, installation, service and reconditioning of a variety of equipment, instruments and control systems • Execute C&I projects in line with accepted project management principles to enhance, improve and optimise operations • Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns to determine resource requirements and order spares • Maintain radiation equipment • Install and maintain radiation equipment according to maintenance schedules and requirements • Demonstrate knowledge relevant to safety legislation, policies and procedures regarding radiation • Meet availability and accuracy targets and objectives, taking into consideration health, safety, environmental, technical and legal requirements • Monitor the implementation of new equipment and systems, taking specifications in consideration • Monitor, benchmark and evaluate technology in order to ensure continuous improvements • Optimise performance of equipment by monitoring effectiveness and making recommendations • Perform risk assessments (General and Mini)
• Install and maintain networks, de-energise and lock-out equipment • Perform other duties that may be reasonably expected within the company from time to time • Work rotational shifts and overtime, be on standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise • Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Company Policies and Procedures.
Minimum requirements: • An N6 in Electrical Engineering Light Current or Instrumentation and Process Control obtained via TVET/Technical College AND Trade Test certificate** (Instrument and Process Control or Instrument Mechanician) OR National Diploma In Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or Instrumentation and Process Control obtained via technikon or university of technology • 3 years’ relevant experience in the Control and Instrumentation discipline
• Computer literacy (specify on CV) • A valid driver’s licence • Knowledge of and skill in monitoring the installation of new equipment and systems.
** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical training centre (eg Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Candidates holding S28 Trade Test certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.
Advantageous: • Experience in a mining environment • Industrial Instrumentation and Winding Control System Training Certificate (specify knowledge on CV) • Siemens S7 PLC Hardware and Software Training Certificate (specify knowledge on CV) • Adroit and WINCC SCADA software configuration training certificate (specify knowledge on CV).
