Kimberley Ekapa Mining JV (KEM-JV) is a joint venture between Ekapa Minerals (Pty) Ltd, Super Stone Mining (Pty) Ltd and Crown Resources (Pty) Ltd (Petra Diamonds) and is situated in the City of Kimberley in the Northern Cape.
The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical maintenance and repairs on all Trackless Mobile Machines (TMM) and auto-electrical equipment.
Tasks and responsibilities: • Adhere to the breakdown call-out procedure • Conduct pre-use inspections on machinery and equipment • Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all equipment within area of responsibility • Ensure availability of machinery • Ensure safe storage and safe environment for batteries • Follow instructions are per job card and report any defects • Be responsible for monitoring and identifying spares requirements according to procedure; battery maintenance; good housekeeping; performing lock out when required; re-wiring machinery; upgrading systems according to standards and procedures; identifying and reporting faults when working with hydraulic valves (components) that are electronically operated • Inspect and test machines, equipment and parts for legal compliance • Inspect front and rear lights to ensure compliance with standards and maintenance schedules • Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and electronic components in TMMs and equipment • Maintain and repair air-con units on TMMs • Perform risk assessments (activity-based and mini) • Provide input in preparing maintenance and inspection schedules • Strip and repair components • Strip, analyse and inspect failures to determine root cause and prevent recurrences • Identify and report faults when working with hydraulic valves (components) that are electronically operated • Comply to health and safety standards, procedures and COPs • Be responsible for trade-related administration and conducting on-the-job training for allocated apprentices • Work shifts, overtime and be able to do standby, callouts.
Minimum requirements: • Grade 12/N2 Certificate or equivalent qualification • Qualified Electrician Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and apprenticeship** • 3 years’ post-apprenticeship/qualification experience as an Auto Electrician in a mining environment (please indicate clearly on CV) • Computer literate • Valid driver’s licence.
** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical training centre (eg Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Should these documents not be submitted the application will not be considered. Candidates holding S28 Trade Test certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.
