5-Year Fixed Term Contract

The Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) is the implementa on arm of the Gauteng Department of Economic

Development, which was created in terms of Blue IQ Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd Amended Act (2012) through the merger

of Blue IQ investment Holdings and its subsidiaries and the Gauteng Economic Development Agency (GEDA).

The GGDA has the mandate to lead, facilitate and manage sustainable job crea on and inclusive economic growth

and development in the Gauteng City Region through: • Enabling economic development that is focused on crea ng

sustainable jobs through facilita ng the focused delivery of key na onal and provincial programmes of ac on • Driving

growth in provincial GDP and provincial rates • Strategically posi oning the Province into a globally compe  ve city

region • Facilita ng partnerships and crea ng linkages across the Province in order to maximise service delivery outcomes

• Suppor ng the development of Key Sectors of Economy in line with established economic and industrial policies of the

Province, through: * Business enablement * Capital projects * Land and development * Trade and investment promo on.

Repor ng to the GGDA Group Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be expected to execute the following

tasks: • Lead, in conjunc on with the Board, the development of the Company’s strategy • Lead and oversee the

implementa on of the Company’s long- and short-term plans in accordance with its strategy • Develop annual budget and

ensure approval by the Board of Directors • Manage GGDA Group Strategic Economic Infrastructure projects that contribute

towards diversifying the key industries that drive the Gauteng Province’s economy in accordance with the na onal and

provincial strategies and policies • Develop organisa onal and project fi nancial requirements and raising the necessary

fi nance, focused on a rac ng/en cing private sector investors and partners • Develop a Trade and Investment Strategy

and Implementa on Plan to a ract and retain trade and investment in Gauteng Province • Engage and network with

strategic partners, including major interna onal, na onal and local industries/sectors relevant to the scope of the GGDA

Group • Develop produc ve rela onships with other spheres of government and government en  es • Ensure compliance

with the provisions of the PFMA, Treasury Regula ons and any relevant legisla on • Foster a high performance corporate

culture that promotes ethical prac ces and encourages individual integrity, accountability and social responsibility • Ensure

compliance with all Codes of Good Governance, Corporate Governance such as Companies Act, King III and interna onal

best prac ces • Develop, maintain and mo vate a core team through eff ec ve performance management and general

human resources management principles • Develop organisa onal policies, structures, procedures and processes to ensure

opera onal eff ec veness through enhancement of core values of GGDA.

Applicants should have the following minimum requirements: • A postgraduate in Business Administra on (MBA/MBL

will be an added advantage) • 10 years’ experience in an Execu ve Management posi on and project management from

incep on to implementa on phase • Strategic capability and leadership • Programme and project management skills

• Trade, export and investment promo on skills • Knowledge of industrial development • Knowledge of Local Economic

Development and Broad-based Economic Par cipa on • People management and empowerment skills • Stakeholder

management skills • Knowledge of PFMA regula ons and provisions • Financial and knowledge management skills

• Networking skills • Honesty and integrity • Strong leadership skills • Strategic ability and organis onal skills • Advanced

communica on and interpersonal skills, coupled with crea vity and a strong aspira on to achieve customer excellence, ie

ability to express him-/herself clearly and simply, both verbally and in wri ng • The ability to undertake public speaking

with full confi dence of the subject ma er.
